Abu Dhabi Police warns against not giving way to school buses

Brigadier Khalifa Mohammad Al Khaili, director of traffic and patrols directorate in the central operations sector, called on the school bus drivers to adhere to the preventive measures for transporting students and to operate the “stop” sign on the buses when the students get on or off the school bus.
He urged other vehicle drivers to observe traffic rules and regulations to ensure maximum safety and security for students, and to give them full opportunity by stopping when they see school buses pull up on the side of the road.
Al Khaili explained that the law requires motorists to stop in the event of a bus opening the (stop) sign on the side of the buses as follows: In on-way roads, complete stop of all vehicles traveling in both directions, with a distance of not less than five meters, and in two-way roads, a complete stop of all vehicles moving in the direction of the vehicle, at a distance of not less than five meters.
Al-Khaili pointed out that police patrols and civilian patrols will intensify road control, and failure to comply with the rules means that motorists will be charged with Article (91) of the UAE Traffic Law, which imposes a fine of Dh1,000  and 10 black points.
