The human rights department of Dubai police rescued a 9-year-old Asian girl who was repeatedly assaulted by her mother after the girl’s school administration had contacted the police.
Investigations revealed that she had been subjected to violence, and her teacher was concerned about the obvious signs of beating on her body. The girl was then referred by the police to Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.
After further investigations, it turned out that the mother made the girl do all household chores. Allegedly so she “teaches her child housework from an early age”. The woman also has a maid who is tasked with looking after her other two-year-old daughter.
The girl’s father didn’t do anything to stop his wife, despite being aware of her repeated assaults.
Brigadier Dr Mohammed Al Murr, director of the human rights department, said when the police checked on the girl, they found she was suffering from a psychological condition. Her body bore apparent signs of violence.
According to the officer, the mother confessed to violently assaulting her child – both verbally and physically.
Lt-Col Saeed Rashid Al Haili, director of the department of child and women protection, human rights department, declared that the parents were not qualified to raise the child. Police then rescued the girl after obtaining the required permissions.
