Within the context of the ‘Emirati-French Cultural Dialogue’, the Alliance Francaise in the United Arab Emirates and the Institut francais, the cultural department of the French Embassy in the UAE, have invited the French band ‘INSULA’ to perform. The band who have created two original tracks, based on Emirati rhythms, will perform on 16th April at 19:30 in the Abu Dhabi Theatre, Breakwater.
Following their world tour in Latin America, Europe and Russia, INSULA will be performing for the first time in Abu Dhabi, thanks to the support of the Emirates Heritage Club and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President’s Representative.
INSULA is a French band formed by three musicians, with Maher Beauroy, Martinican pianist, Redha Benabdallah French-Algerian oudist and Adriano Tenorio Brazilian percussionist, who play Caribbean jazz with Arabic Andalusian rhythms. They compose music with original sounds mixing the Arabian Lute and the piano, combining traditional and modern music. The group offers a bold music, rich in sensitivity and color, building a bridge between tradition and modernity in the footsteps of the great thinker and militant Frantz Fanon, prominent figure in Martinique and in Algeria.
The Year of the Emirati-French Cultural Dialogue celebrates the historical ties of friendship and cooperation between France and the United Arab Emirates, established upon the foundation of the Federation in 1971 and growing stronger ever since. The cooperation agreement between our two countries was signed on 9th November, to expand the scope of relations.
These long-lasting friendship and strategic partnership between France and the United Arab Emirates have been reaffirmed on the occasion of the inauguration of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, on November 8th 2017, by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, the His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and the His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
