Abu Dhabi: Court fines a husband who accused his wife of beating him

A

bu Dhabi First Instance court recieved a case where a husband claimed his wife beats him, while he only defends him self. “I came to complain against my wife,” he said. “She beats me for no reason. I only pushed her away from me. She told the police operations room.”
On the other hand, the wife denied her husband’s allegations in the investigations, accused him of assaulting her with a stick and preventing her from leaving the house to go to the Family Guidance Center, where she had previously filed for divorce.
The wife presented a medical report showing the injuries she sustained as a result of her husband’s assault on her, stating that she was suffering from head pain and bruises to the right thigh above the knee. The report indicated that there were no other visible injuries and that her overall situation was good.
In her statement, she also explained that her husband threatened her on the day of the incident , that if she did not leave the house without her children, he would throw her belongings in the street.
The case papers were referred to the family prosecutor, who in turn referred it to the court, after the couple were charged with assaulting each other, to cause each other injuries that prevented them from doing their personal work for a period not exceeding 20 days.
The court stated that the husband had denied his assault on his wife, stating that he had pushed her away from him when she assaulted him and had agreed to pay her, he did not however, prove that he was in a state of self-defense.
As for the accusation against the wife, which she denied before the court, the court explained that by examining the evidence, it is clear that the accusation did not have any evidence supporting the husband’s testimony. All he provided was the husband’s statement and the medical report. The defendant did not provide any evidence to support his testimony, so he was convicted of the charge of assault.
The court affirmed that according to the rulings of the Supreme Court, the court will rule on the case according to the faith that it has formed, with its proven origin in the papers. It is intended to form an understanding of the facts in the case and to evaluate the evidence in them.
