Sharjah Police warns against social media exaggeration

The General Command of Sharjah Police has warned the public not to exaggerate facts, or broadcast audio recordings on social media, containing inaccurate information.
Sharjah Police also confirmed the inaccuracy of a voice note, from a person warning of the existence of a gang that steals the contents of vehicles, saying that the voice note is exaggerated in the narration. The police also stated that an incident was reported to the Operations Room of the Sharjah Police General Command, in Al Hazana district, where the contents of two vehicles were stolen after breaking part of the glass of the two vehicles.

In the voice recording, the person indicated that a gang in Sharjah, specialized in car theft, had stolen two cars from a family in the emirate and stole money, personal papers and belongings inside them, and that they were planning to steal them by tracking their victims, by other members of the gang, and that they used a specialized machine to break the glass and grab what’s inside the vehicles.

The General Directorate of Sharjah Police noted that the theft took place, but the details told by the person are exaggerated, and that the person “greatly exaggerated his presentation of events, it was unrealistic and incorrect, and the existence of a specialized gang that carries out these robberies is not true at all, It is only one theft report, and the concerned authorities are following it up to look for the criminals and bring them to justice”.
Police reported that vehicle theft incidents have declined in recent periods, according to previously announced figures and statistics, and that the authorities are continuing their awareness campaigns in this regard.
