Dubai: A flat tire ends a driver’s life in a run-over accident

A driver was killed after run-over accident on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai as he stopped on the hard shoulder and a heavy vehicle crashed him from behind.

Colonel Jumaa bin Suwaidan, director of the Traffic Department of Dubai Police, stated that the accident took place at 7:30 AM yesterday when a vehicle stopped because one of its tires had been damaged.

The driver stopped on the shoulder of the road in order to replace the tire, without taking safety measures, which led to the driver getting hit by a heavy pick-up vehicle coming from the back. The incident resulted in the death of the driver due to his injuries.

Colonel Juma Salim bin Suwaidan warned against stopping on the shoulder of the road, because the distance is not safe to stop vehicles, pointing out that in the event of any emergency, the driver can pull the vehicle out of the way in a cautious way.
