Dubai: Female student sues her family for detaining and torturing her

Dubai’s Criminal Court accused an Arab family of a father, mother and four children yesterday of detaining one of their daughters, 26, in a room in the house, beating, and electrifying her. In addition to starving her.

This accusation came after the victim reported her case to the police, stating the injustice of her family, especially her mother, who had been at odds with her since 2009.

The victim, a university student, reported that she was detained in one of the rooms of the house, a lock was placed on the windows and she was prevented from going out. She was given a few meals and was beaten on various parts of her body. With the help of her brother, who tortured her with electric shocks, and her sisters, one of whom used to beat her.

The victim added that her mother used to ask her brother and sisters not to be lenient with her when traveling, and to continue to detain her, beat her, and deprive her of food.

Her father represented her in court, and stated that the victim submitted a waiver of the case.

The case was therefore delayed until the middle of next month for ruling.
