Sharjah: Arab man jailed for changing the expiry date of a national ID

The Sharjah Criminal Court sentenced an Arab young man to six months in prison after he changed the expiry date of his father’s national identity card. He also submitted it to the National Identity Branch in Sharjah.
The witness, an employee of the Emirates Identity Authority, said that the convicted person came to him to renew his national identity and gave him a photograph of a card in the name of his father. The system showed an expiry date of 2015, while in the photo, he changed the date to 2016.
The convicted person denied the process of changing the date, saying that the forgery should be of benefit to the person, which is not the case here, as his presence and the presence of his family in the country is official, and that he comes to the national ID offices frequently.
