A knife-wielding man attacked passers-by on a busy street in the French capital Paris on Saturday night, killing one and injuring four others before being shot dead by police.
Following the attack, President Emmanuel Macron said that France “will not bow to the enemies of freedom,” praising the policemen for “neutralising the terrorist.”
Authorities are investigating the incident which took place in the heart of the city’s Opera District, an area frequented by tourists, with the identity of the assailant yet to be identified.
The terrorist organisation Daesh have claimed responsibility for the attack.
