The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court heard a videotape recording the process of two people negotiating a bribe of 600,000 dirhams in exchange for leaking confidential information about tenders in a bid by a specialized company.
The court presented a CD containing a video of the agreement to commit the crime attributed to the first defendant, which showed the defendant sitting in the car and talking with the secret source in the darkness, without any clear scenes of the image of the two people, but the voice of mutual dialogue between them.
On the CD, the Court heard another recording, including a telephone call between the confidential source and the accused in connection with the procedures for awarding the tenders the agreed amounts. The accused denied that he was one of the people appearing in the video or that his voice is on of the voices in the audio.
The court asked the witness, an employee of the company, whether he was aware of the incident in question. He replied that the first accused works as a member of the tender committee and has a say in the process of approving the companies bidding for the company.
By virtue of the functions assigned to the first accused, he was granted the right to receive information on the nature of the tenders three days prior to the meeting of the Committee to vote.
One of the defendants denied all the charges against him, pointing out that his job duties do not include procedures for establishing projects or bids. The judge decided to postpone the case.
