Dubai: Four Asians sentenced to 5 years in jail for trying to sell a woman on “Whatsapp”

The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced four Asians to five years in prison and deportation from the country after they have been accused of trying to sell an absconding Indonesian maid for Dh5,500 via WhatsApp. All the convicts and the victim were ordered to be deported. The defendants were also ordered to pay a fine of Dh100,000 jointly.

The court revealed that the convicts tried to sell a maid of Indonesian nationality, aged 41 years for the amount of 5500 dirhams after they helped her escape from her sponsor who brought her to take care of his children.

The details of the sentence revealed that the convicts got to know the victim through «Facebook» and «Whats App», indicating that they managed to get to the victim through their deception they took her to the buyer against her will , But the police were waiting for them.

The victim said that she was forced to practice prostitution for financial gain until she was arrested and revealed to the police what she had suffered.
