Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal reviewed a case where a famous jewelry store was accused of selling and possessing counterfeit gold pieces of other trademarks.
Taking into consideration that the the trademarks are registered and owned by other parties. The shop was accused of offering the counterfeit goods for the purpose of selling and promoting them, which harms the consumer’s interest. The case was adjourned for a hearing on October 9th.
The owner of the shop denied any imitation of other brands, explaining that he has been working in this field for 50 years, and has many branches at the national level. He also claimed to have gold factories registered with the Ministry of Economy.
