Dubai: Arab employee on trial for allegedly raping an American tourist

An employee of Arab nationality denied charges of sexual assault of an American tourist he came to know on their trip from America to Dubai.

The girl had invited him to her hotel apartment where they drank alcohol with his cousin. The 29-year-old defendant said they  of the 24-year-old victim had consensual sex, while the prosecution insisted on the application of the death penalty in reference to article 354 of the Federal code.

Prosecutors said that the accused took advantage of the victim’s lack of awareness and inability to resist and defend herself and managed through isolating her, to commit his crime after beating her on the face.

According to the victim, she was in her bedroom after he asked her to charge his phone. However, she woke up in the morning to find out what the defendant had done to her. The girl reported the incident to the security guards of the hotel she was staying in.
