Eight-year-old boy sends his mother’s personal information to gamers on Fortnite

An eight-year-old boy in the US was pressured into sending his mother’s personal information to gamers playing Fortnite online. Charlie Pearson ended up sending photos of his mother’s driving licence and credit cards in exchange for ‘v-bucks’.

The boy said he was getting text messages and phone calls from an anonymous player after chatting to him online. He said he was urged to send pictures of his mother’s personal information, but only if he did it quietly – and he only did so because he didn’t want to annoy anyone.‘I really didn’t want to do it. They just kept on telling me to and then I didn’t want them to get mad at me, so I just did it.’ the boy told NBC

Charlie was warned: ‘Remember, don’t tell her – she will get mad.’. The mother went to the police and was told that unless somebody takes steps to do something with that information, it isn’t a crime to possess it.
