Dubai Police has referred a European visitor to Public Prosecution on charges of using a forged credit card to pay AED 135,000 for a hotel he stayed in.
According to Col. Omar Bin Hammad, Director of Economic Crimes Investigation Dept. at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the details of the incident reveal that a report was received from a hotel regarding a European visitor who tried to make a payment on a suite he had stayed in for a few days, with a forged credit card, and when he was confronted, he refused to pay and fled the hotel.
Bin Hammad confirmed that as soon as the report was received, a team was assigned to search for the visitor, who went to stay in another hotel, and informed the bank that the credit card he had booked with was forged. When confronted, he confessed to having several forged cards. He was then seized and referred to the Public Prosecution; on charges of failure to pay the hotel bill, and using forged cards.
