AD Police seeks to prevent passers-by from photographing road accidents

The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, in cooperation with the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, du, has launched an awareness campaign that aims to prevent crowds and passers-by from taking photographic or video footage of road accidents.

Dubbed “Participate Consciously”, the campaign seeks to educate UAE community members about the dangers of forming crowds around a scene of an accident, and taking imagery of said accident.

Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director of the Central Operations Sector at the Abu Dhabi Police, said that this practice of gathering and photographing during accidents is considered a negative social phenomenon, which results in the increase of injuries or deaths as it causes the disruption of traffic patrols, ambulances and civil defence.

Abdulwahed Juma, Executive Vice President, Brand and Corporate Communications at du, highlighted the importance of cooperation with ADP in order to raise the awareness of UAE citizens and residents on the importance of road safety practices.
