Abu Dhabi: Maid on trial after serving her sponsor tea with witchcraft leaves

A GCC national man discovered that the foul-smell in his cup of tea served by the maid was witchcraft leaves containing strange writings and symbols that reveal that the maid who works for him in the family’s home is doing magic to harm family.

The police immediately arrived at the man’s house, where, during the inspection of the maid’s luggage, she was found to have magic spells and a collection of items used in witchcraft, the maid was immediately arrested and handed to authorities.

The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal considered the appeal filed by the maid after she was convicted in a court of first instance and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with a fine of AED 5,000 and deportation.. The maid denied the charge, claiming that the objects found in her room are meant for private use only, she therefore asked the court to reduce the length of imprisonment and fine.
