Elderly to be named “Senior Citizens” in the UAE

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, announced the proceedings of today’s Cabinet meeting, where it was decided to launch a new national policy for the elderly . His highness tweeted on his official account stating: “We called the designation to be “senior citizens” instead of the elderly. They are senior in their experience, their service to this country, their souls, and senior in our eyes and the hearts.”

His Highness continued announcing: ” The national policy for “senior citizens” will include their own health insurance and centers to provide them with modern skills, sports activities and special discounts, and to benefit from retirees in the labor market, the policy also includes home designs suitable to their needs, and programs to protect them from abuse and violence.”
