Dubai: Investor forges papers to steal AED5 million from his friend

The Dubai Criminal Court considered the case of an American investor who plotted to seize AED5 million from another investor of his nationality, using fraudulent ways to convince the victim to deposit the amount -as a price for precious stones- into his company’s account and then forge official documents to seize the amount.

According to case details in 2016, the victim sold precious stones belonging to his relatives in order to donate their price as charity, and agreed with the buyers through the accused to deposit the price in the company’s bank account. However, the accused forged official documents, including a passport and a passport stamp, and an official bank document containing the partner’s signature to eventually seize the amount of AED5 million.

Thankfully, the victim received a text message from the bank stating that the defendant had made changes to signatures and official documents.
