Dubai: GCC national uses a dead person’s ID to book two nights in a hotel

An unemployed 27-year-old GCC man, and another fugitive used an identity card that belongs to a person who died three years ago to book in a hotel.

The defendant was arrested and referred to Dubai’s Public Prosecution, where he was interrogated. It was revealed that the two men were able to trick the hotel receptionist into receiver the dead man’s ID card when they came to make the booking.

After they spent the two nights, the hotel receptionist called the room phone to check if they wanted to extend his stay, but the phone was not answered. He then called on the mobile phone number registered with the ID, and was answered that “Sorry, the identity holder died three years ago.”

Police were informed immediately, and as soon as the police arrived at the hotel, they went to the room and knocked on the door. The defendant went out and was asked to show his real ID card, the police arrested him immediately.
