After several reports and arrests, Abu Dhabi Police warns against real estate fraud, in which victims are deceived by social media advertisements. ADP also advised buyers to strictly deal with approved real estate agents and to keep record of their ID cards, data, receipts, and official contracts.
Brigadier Mohammad Suhail Al Rashidi, Acting Director of the Criminal Security Sector of the Abu Dhabi Police, called the public not to trust false online advertisements, urging all parties to abide by the regulations of documenting lease contracts and receipts.
He also called on the public to take preventive measures by communicating with approved real estate offices, asking the representative to show their ID card, register their data, not give them identification papers except in those offices, and to keep the receipts, official contracts. Buyers should also ensure the registration of the property in the Urban Planning Department and Municipalities.
Brigadier General Musallam Mohammed Al Ameri, director of the police directorate of external areas also reported that the Directorate’s centers have recently dealt with several reports of real estate fraud, he also stated that ADP has arrested of a number of suspects who have forged rental contracts. He stressed that public awareness and the immediate reporting of such cases is important.
