The financial control operations carried out by the state audit institution (SAI) earlier this year revealed one of the entities in the UAE is subject to public fund seizure within procurement contracts. The SAI has limited the contracts and amounts allocated in the said governmental entity and the documents accompanying the stages of contracting and implementation and achievement certificates. By following the stages of the financial payments of these contracts and comparing them to the actual achievement levels, there was a variation between the value of financial payments and the work done.
The Anti-Corruption Department of the Office found that there was suspicion of public money seizure. During the course of financial analysis and investigations, one of the employees of the agency, in cooperation with other employees, was proved to have assigned the execution of the procurement contracts to his own company. It was proved to the Court that the total amounts illegally seized exceeded 60 million dirhams.
