In an incident that is first of it’s kind in the emirate, Sharjah Police investigates a drowning incident of an Emirati student in a private school’s swimming pool.
The operations room received a report of the incident at 10:30 AM on Wednesday. The teams were dispatched to the school, and the child student was immediately transferred to Al Qasimi hospital where the doctors attempted to resuscitate him, investigation teams also moved to the site to investigate the causes of the incident.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Mulla, Director of the Education Department at the Sharjah Education Council, stressed the council’s keenness to follow up all safety procedures in schools and that the preservation of students’ lives is the highest priority for schools and must be taken into consideration by all schools.
Al Mulla expressed his sorrow about the death of the student, offering condolences to his family.
The Council, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, is following up the incident closely. A team of the Council immediately moved to the school to follow up and wait for the needed legal proceedings by the concerned authorities, which have initiated the investigation following the incident, in order to take the necessary measures against all those responsible.
