Dubai RTA adopts new generation of vehicle plate numbers

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that it will begin implementing the new generation of vehicle license plates on the new registration of vehicles and plate replacement as of January 1, 2019.

The new regulations will be applied to registered vehicles in public and private sectors as of July 2019, while it will be applied to individual vehicles starting January 2020. Implementing the change in number plates will be optional  for individuals at renewal from now until January 2020. The tariff for changing will be between AED 35 for short plates and AED 50 for long plates.

The new generation of vehicle plates comes within the framework of RTA’s keenness to unify vehicles plates in Dubai according to the new design, which includes three elements: The word “Dubai”, the number and code.
