Sharjah Police rescues a girl from committing suicide after her anonymous social media post

The father Asian female -in her 20s- who lives with her family in a residential building in Sharjah was surprised by a team from Sharjah Police knocking on his door at night; to inform him that his daughter was about to commit suicide and that they came to save her.

The father immediately allowed the team to enter his apartment and accompanied them to his daughter’s room, which was locked with the lights turned off. The girl was found to be in a state of extreme depression prepared to commit suicide, but she was surprised by the arrival of the police who started talking to her.

The Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police, along with the Department of Cyber Crime of Dubai Police revealed the existence of an anonymously posted social media message indicating the intention of an unknown girl to commit suicide within hours. Investigations revealed the source of the message and the police was able to identify the girl’s location.

After discussions with the girl, it turned out that what drove her to attempt suicide was a case of cyberbullying after she posted a picture of her on a social media platform. The girl was persuaded to refrain from her idea and was provided with the needed guidance to restore her psychological balance and prevent that risk again.
