Dubai: Four men accused of killing businessman to steal his credit card

Four young Arab men, one of whom is a visitor, took part in the murder of an Arab businessman with an American nationality in his hotel room while carrying out a plan to steal his credit card.

The four men agreed to take turns in trying to get closer to the victim and gain his trust. Surprisingly, after the murder, the defendants did not spend the money they withdrew from the victim’s credit card -estimated at 21,000 dirhams- on basic or emergency needs, but on entertainment and clothes.

Investigations into the crime showed that the mastermind of the crime was the third suspect, a cleaning worker, who knew the victim about a year before the crime. He was introduced to him in one of the cafés he frequently goes to.

When one of the accused faced “financial hardship,” the third defendant pointed out a plan to reach the victim and asked them to approach him and build a friendship with him to gain his trust and be able to visit him in his room to steal his credit card.

The first defendant managed to befriend the victim after failed attempts by the fourth and second defendants, he was able to accompany the victim and to approach him on the grounds that he needed a job and a place to stay. When the victim discovered that the accused attempted to steal his credit card,  the victim resisted but was punched and hit in the head with a wooden drawer by the accused.

The accused then stole the victim’s personal belongings, his mobile phone, credit card. Before leaving the room, the defendant also threw the pillows that were stained with blood in the room’s bathtub, and opened the water on them, to remove the blood stains, and then left the place.
