Dubai: Drunk Arab man beats girlfriend to death in her apartment

The Dubai public prosecution has referred an Arab man to trial for premeditatedly murdering his girlfriend.

Prosecutors accused the man of physically assaulting his girlfriend at her flat by repeatedly beating her in various parts of her body, causing her a severe brain injury and bleeding that left her dead.

Advocate-General Sami Al Shamsi, head of Bur Dubai prosecution, revealed that the defendant came from another emirate to the victim’s place in Dubai to party and drink. He consumed a large amount of alcoholic drinks. Later, a verbal conflict took place between him and his girlfriend, which turned into a physical fight with the victim that led to her death.

According to investigations and witnesses’ statements, it was found that the defendant cleaned up the blood in the kitchen and the bedroom. The accused also disposed of some of the detergents and blood traces in a bag he dumped in the garbage. The building security guard saw him as he was leaving in a very nervous state, he offered him help. But the accused then claimed he was looking for his car. He disappeared for about an hour and came back claiming he forgot his car keys at the victim’s flat.

The victim’s body was later discovered by the victim’s female friend. “According to witnesses, the friend went to the victim’s place after she could not reach her on the phone. A security guard accompanied her and they found the door open while everything looked normal. However, when she reached the bedroom, she found the victim’s body on the bed with blood around her, the woman immediately informed the police.”

The defendant admitted during the public prosecution investigation, to having assaulted his girlfriend. But he claimed he could not recall the incident as he was under the influence of alcohol.
