Federal Supreme Court confirms life sentence on Turkish man with security-related charges

UAE’s Federal Supreme Court has rejected the appeal filed by two defendants, an Arab, 37 years old man and a Turkish 49-year-old man. The court confirmed the initial sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment for the first and life sentence for the second.

The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeals had charged the first defendant with establishing and managing four accounts on social networking sites: Twitter, Facebook, Telegram and WhatsApp, under the name of Abu Muhammad Al Adnani in order to promote terrorist ideologies and urge young people to join him and donate to terrorists.

In the second case, the Abu Dhabi Court of Appeals also had convicted a man of Turkish nationality with cooperation with the terrorist organizations in Syria. The indictment stated that the accused had collected funds in the UAE and sent them to the terrorist organizations operating in Syria.
