Abu Dhabi: Two employees jailed, fined for cancelling traffic fines worth AED1 million

The Court of Cassation in Abu Dhabi has upheld a ruling for two employees who embezzled AED1 million by sentencing them each with one-year imprisonment and a fine of 150,000 dirhams, in addition to forcing them to pay back the embezzled amount.

Details of the case reveal that the defendants cancelled and diverted traffic fines belonging to them, their relatives and friends.

The first-instance court sentenced each of them to five years’ imprisonment and a fine of 150,000 dirhams, forcing them to pay back the embezzled AED 958,440 and fining them the same amount.
