The United Arab Emirates has condemned in the strongest terms the attempt of the Houthi militias to target Makkah with a ballistic missile.
A Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, MoFAIC, statement said that the attempt to target the Holy City of Makkah during Ramadan represented a serious escalation and showed the unprecedented moral bankruptcy of these militias. It noted the lack of religious or moral boundaries serving to deter these militias from undertaking acts that would provoke the feelings of Muslims around the world.
The statement pointed out that the timing of this attack indicated that the Houthi militias are dependent on external agendas. It said that this ‘sinful act’ sought to destabilise security and stability in the region and to undermine efforts aimed at achieving peace in Yemen.
The United Arab Emirates expressed its solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, saying that it stood alongside the Kingdom in all measures taken to safeguard its security and stability.
The statement also reiterated the UAE’s firm commitment, as part of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition supporting the legitimate government in Yemen, to achieve security and stability in brotherly Yemen, out of its belief in the importance of this goal for regional security and stability.
The UAE also urged the international community to act immediately to stop such terrorist attacks targeting the Holy Places in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
