Fujairah’s Court of Appeals considered a case of a Gulf national accused of beating his wife and son after hearing from his son’s school that he was absent for a whole week.
Details of the case reveal that the victim and her 15-year-old son, a high school student, submitted medical reports proving that they had been beaten, having moderate injuries throughout their bodies.
The defendant told the judiciary: “while I was in my office, I received a call from my son’s school informing me that he had been absent for a full week without giving any medical excuse or communicating with the school to explain the reasons for the repeated absences, which angered me and made me lose control of because I thought that my son was regularly going to school, especially in the high school stage that requires daily presence”.
The accused admitted to beating them with the intention of discipline rather than violence after he was embarrassed by the school’s call.
