Sharjah: Father on trial for beating his daughter over a “T-shirt”

A 40-year-old Arab father was accused of physically assaulting his 14-year-old daughter over a “T-shirt”. The father explained that she disobeyed him after he told her to wear decent clothes. The accused had separated from the girl’s mother who reported him after taking her to a Child Protection Center in Sharjah. The accused claimed that her mother took advantage of the incident due to their conflicts and forced the girl to report him.

The court listened to the statements of the girl who attended with her father. She confirmed that her father raised his voice on her after she wore a T-shirt he did not like, which led her to turn to her mother, who in turn took her to the Child Protection Centre in Sharjah and forced her to file a complaint against her father, but it was her mother who forced her to protect her.
