Filipino expats among top remittance senders from UAE in H1 2019

Filipino expatriates in the UAE are among the top remittance senders, according to latest figures released by the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates.

They comprise 7.2 percent of the total remittances, amounting to Dh5.8 billion, sent from the country during the first quarter of 2019.

As per the Central Bank data cited by WAM, expats’ remittances amounted to Dh80.96 billion during this period.

A total of Dh33.046 billion thereof was transferred through money exchange companies and the rest from the banks operating in the country.

India took home the crown as the top-receiving country for earnings made by migrants, comprising 37.2 percent of total remittances during Q2.
