Indian boy injured in Sharjah accident, airlifted to hospital

A 10-year-old Indian boy is fighting for his life after being injured seriously in a horrific road accident in Sharjah on Thursday afternoon.

Seven others, who were also injured in the accident, have been rushed to Al Qasimi and Al Kuwaiti hospitals.

The injured boy, whose condition is critical, was shifted to hospital by helicopter.

According to a traffic police official, the accident occurred due to illegal overtaking, which led to collision of two vehicles.

The police said that they received a call at the operations room at 4pm. Traffic patrols, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams reached the site within three minutes.

Some of the injured were admitted in the ICU while others received treatment at the general emergency room.

The police official urged motorists to follow traffic rules to avoid accidents.

He called on motorists not to overtake vehicles wrongly, use indicators while changing lanes, avoid distraction while driving, maintain safe distance between vehicles and avoid sudden diversion of lanes.
