Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Acting Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief for Operations at Dubai Police, has recently chaired the force’s Events’ Security Committee (ESC) meeting to discuss the comprehensive security plan for the 2020 New Year’s Eve celebration.
During the meeting, ESC members reviewed the challenges encountered last year and proposed solutions to potentially avoid similar scenarios.
Maj-Gen Al Ghaithi said the plans, which are the result of the ongoing coordination & collaboration with several government and private entities, include stepping up police patrols, the provision of extra parking slots, and more feeder buses shuttling round-the-clock, and some roads closure.
He added that Dubai Police’s main aim is for people to have fun and enjoy themselves on New Year’s Eve with zero unpleasant incidents, as this event has already become a major celebration in Dubai that attracts the world’s attention.
The meeting was also attended by representative of concerned partners of Dubai Police, including Emmar and other government and semi-government entities.
