A 4-year-old girl and her mother died after being ran over in Jebel Ali

A four-year-old girl died and her mother was injured when they were ran over in a school area in Jebel Ali.

Brigadier General Dr. Adel Al Suwaidi, Director of Jebel Ali Police Station, said that police operation room was reported on Monday at 3.40 pm about a run over accident in Jebel Ali. He said that the accident took place when an African motorist, who was reversing her vehicle, accidentally stepped on the accelerator pedal instead of the brake. Both mother and child were crushed between the moving vehicle and a parked one. The girl died on the spot while her mother was transported to NMC hospital

The accident also resulted in the damage of three other vehicles that were parked adjacent to each other.

Brigadier Al Suwaidi urged the drivers to be cautious and focused on the road while driving, especially in school zones, due to the congestion in the movement, both in terms of students entering and leaving schools with parents, or in terms of traffic density, calling for following safety procedures and caution in driving and during crossing the road.
