Abu Dhabi Police warns from “loud car stereos”

Abu Dhabi Police warns drivers against playing loud car music, after several complaints from residents and drivers expressing their disturbance of this behavior. Loud car music penalty is AED 400 and four black points.

As per Article 20 of the Federal Traffic Law, a fine of Dh2,000 and 12 black traffic points are slapped against any driver involved in driving a noisy vehicle.

“This illegal practice is irritable to other drivers and scary to road users and nearby residents.”

“The public is urged to report any such illegal practices to toll free (999) to take action against erring drivers.”

Honking for no reason and amplifying such honks in a noisy way is also banned, they warned. “These practices actually tarnish the civilised image of the city.”

Hoking is banned by hospitals and schools, the Abu Dhabi Police underlined. “Some drivers keep honking to force other motorists to clear the way and that sometimes ends in a road rage, distraction, and crashes,” the police added.

Racing on public roads and at residential areas pose a grave risk to road users’ life, they pointed out.

“Erring drivers involved in such risking and scary driving are penalised with a fine of Dh2,000 23 black points, and 60-day vehicle impoundment, let alone community service instead of jail term.”
