Footballing superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and tennis legend Novak Djokavic took time out from their sunshine holidays in the emirate to meet with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
Ronaldo, who is in contention for this year’s Best Men’s Player title at the Global Soccer Awards in Dubai this evening (Sunday), posted a picture of his meeting with Sheikh Hamdan, who is also fondly known as Fazza. He captioned the post: “Always great to see you my friend @faz3.”
Djokovic, meanwhile, also posted his meeting on Instagram, saying: “On my path I have met many enthusiasts who love sports, but you @faz3 have raised passion and commitment and respect for sport to another level. Love your work and I am happy to be of service on that fantastic mission of yours to bring love for sports closer to people.”
In a further post, Ronaldo and Djokavic then met up for a gym session, where Juventus star Ronaldo taught 32-year-old how to jump – on account of Ronaldo’s stunning 71cm jump to score against Sampdoria earlier this month.
He posted: “Teaching @djokernole how to jump!! Was a pleasure to see you and train with you my friend!!”
While Djokavic added: “I hope I did well in my first lesson, coach.”
Ronaldo’s Twitter pictures on his Dubai visit attracted over 1.5 million views while his Instagram posts attracted over 20 million views.
Two other star footballers who are in Dubai to celebrate the New Year are Real Madrid teammates Dani Carvajal and Karim Benzema. The stars are in the emirate after leading a series of victories for Real Madrid that saw the club topping the La Liga table.
Pictures of their Dubai vacation posted on Instagram showed Benzema astride a water scooter with the Dubai skyline in the background and Carvajal and his partner posing against the backdrop of the Burj Al Arab.
