Abu Dhabi Police: Tailgating to be detected by smart systems from January 15

Abu Dhabi Police will activate automatic smart system and stationary radars to detect motorists who fail to maintain safe driving distance between themselves and other vehicles. The system will become operational on January 15, 2020.

Abu Dhabi Police will implement an awareness and traffic monitoring campaign to curb this negative behaviour. Drivers caught tailgating will be slapped with AED 400 fine and four black points.

Abu Dhabi Police will be sending text messages to alert errant drivers about penalties they may receive should they repeat the offence.
