Six died, 19 injured due to a traffic accident in Abu Dhabi

The death of 6 and serious to a minor injury of 19 others in a collision accident between a truck and a bus occurred this morning (Thursday) on Al-Raha Beach Street towards outside.

Lt. Col. Mohammed Abdul Rahim Al Hosani, Head of the Traffic Investigation Department in the Traffic Department of the External Areas in the Directorate, stated that the command and control center in the Operations Department in the Central Operations Sector in Abu Dhabi Police received a report at dawn today, Thursday about a collision accident between a truck and a bus in Abu Dhabi. Upon receiving the report, the competent authorities in Abu Dhabi Police rushed and secured the site.

He pointed out that the speed of response of traffic patrols and ambulance as well as the participation of the mobile field hospital, had assisted in providing treatment for some cases, while others were quickly transferred to hospitals. The movement was diverted from Sheikh Zayed Bridge towards Al Maqta Bridge during road security and evacuation.

Abu Dhabi Police revealed that the reason behind the accident is a reckless behavior of a driver. Where a car driver was confusing the truck driver behind him forcing him to stop in order to avoid an accident, but a bus driver who did not take into account the road conditions collided with the truck.

Major Abdullah Khamis Al-Azizi, Head of the Serious Accidents and Investigation Department at the Traffic Department of the External Areas at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate in Abu Dhabi Police said that the initial cause of the accident is the excessive speed and the bus driver non awareness of the road conditions.

Abu Dhabi Police warned of reckless behaviors of some drivers that lead to confusion, harm others and threaten their safety on the road.
