Abu Dhabi Court of Appeals, at its hearing held on Sunday morning, began the trial of a restaurant owner who was accused of closing the restaurant without settling the salaries of its 14 employees.
During the hearing, the restaurant owner (Asian) and the manager (Arab) attended, and the restaurant owner denied the charge against him and confirmed that he took the necessary measures to cancel the workers’ visas, so the court explained to him that the settlement was related to the payment of their delayed salaries.
The restaurant manager confirmed that he had paid the worker’s salaries and requested for acquittal and cancellation of the first instance court ruling that penalized him AED 140,000. The court decided to postpone the case, and give him a deadline to pay salaries and settle the employee’s status by obtaining a certificate from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation stating the settlement of salaries.
