The spokesperson for the Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Prosecution stated that two employees of one of the examination centers were arrested for exploiting their positions and the powers granted to them to falsify the test results of “COVID-19” in exchange for money.
In a statement, the spokesman explained that within the framework of the efforts made by the authorities to combat the novel coronavirus “COVID-19” and limit its spread, and follow up on the commitment of citizens and residents to the instructions set by the competent authorities, the Dubai Police General Command have arrested two employees working in one of the examination centers and referred them to the Emergency and Crisis Prosecution for exploiting the powers granted to them to falsify the results of the COVID-19 test results for some people in exchange for money. The employees used images of negative samples previously saved in the database that belong to other uninfected persons, to use the negative test results to enter the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
He said that the criminal actions of the two defendants incur punishments including temporary imprisonment and a fine of not less than AED 150,000 and not exceeding AED 750,000. Legal measures have been taken against the defendants and the Attorney General has ordered their preventive detention pending investigations.
The spokesperson affirmed that the Public Prosecution will take legal measures against whoever flouts the laws, procedures, and precautionary measures related to limiting the spread of “COVID-19” or whoever attempts to exploit his job and the powers granted to him to tamper with the test results or make a profit from them. The measures set by the competent authorities aim to protect the health and safety of all UAE community individuals and to support the government efforts to contain the “COVID-19” pandemic to mitigate its impact on the various aspects of health, economy, and social life.
