In operation called “Lightning Force” … Sharjah Police arrest a gang of 9 members who brought more than one million narcotic tablets (Xanax) of market value more than AED 15 million, in preparation for selling them within the country.
In detail, Lieutenant Colonel Majed Al-Asam, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department at Sharjah Police, revealed that they had received information about the activities of the gang and about the large number of narcotic tablets that they intended to distribute to a group of promoters in less than (24) hours through secret communications. But the vigilance of anti-drug officers in the Sharjah Police enabled them to arrest the gangsters and thwart their plot.
A security team was formed to follow up the case, who managed in coordination with a number of anti-drug agencies in the country to arrest the gang in less than 12 hours and referred them to the Public Prosecution in Sharjah after they had admitted their crime.
