Highlights of the UAE government news briefing on the developments of COVID-19

Dr. Farida Al Hosani, the spokeswoman of the health sector in the UAE:

• New genetic mutations have been detected in the components of the “SARS COVID 2” virus, which is known as “COVID-19”, in several regions of the world. The emergence of mutated strains of the virus is expected. Still, it is important to identify any changes in the virus’s components or characteristics through monitoring systems and follow-ups.

• It is important to identify the impact of the mutations on the virus’s transmission and severity. The vaccine is currently one of the most important solutions available to reduce the disease’s impact and limit its spread.

• Health authorities in the country continue to focus on early detection and rapid intervention to limit the chances of its spread through tracing contacts and implementing isolation and quarantine measures.

The community members hold a great role in supporting these efforts by commitment and cooperation, as they are an integral part of the country’s success story.

• National and local efforts have been combined to provide the vaccine by increasing the number of health centers in the UAE to more than 150 medical centers spread across the Emirates.

• Our message today is addressed to our beloved group, who prioritize their health and safety as they are the blessing of our homes, the senior people. We were keen to provide vaccinations for them as a priority for our concern for their health.

• Help us protect you, and we can visit your homes to assess your medical condition and provide the vaccine.
