Highlights of the UAE government news briefing on country’s health status

Dr. Saif Al Dhaheri, the official spokesman of the National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority:

• We are witnessing a gradual decrease in the infection rates over the past two weeks. A positive sign and a step to recovery and resuming normal life, which can be achieved by the cooperation and commitment of all.

• The UAE has taken preventive & precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease, achieved by establishing heath care centres, preparing hospitals, and conducting the necessary medical test for a large number of residents.

• The health sector is getting ready to launch and operate 7 field hospitals this month, with a total capacity of 2,058 beds, of which 292 are for critical cases.

• The UAE has managed to provide more than 6 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to date. The vaccine has been provided to 3,777,143 people, bringing the percentage of vaccine recipients to 48.71% of the targeted group.

• The Covid-19 vaccine was provided to 64.52% of elderlies in the UAE.

Dr. Saif Al Dhaheri, the official spokesman of the National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority:

• During last February, 55,966 violations were recorded nationwide. Failing to wear masks was the most common during this period, at 47%, followed by shops and commercial establishments failing to adhere to the precautionary and preventative measures at 20.5%. Then lack of commitment to physical distancing at 17.5%, the lack of compliance with the number of people allowed in a single-vehicle at 8%, and finally random gatherings at 4.5%.

• The UAE has handled this crisis with transparency. A year ago, we began a periodical & contentious broadcast for the media briefing to update the public about the latest Covid-19 developments, inform them about the precautionary & preventive measures, and stop rumors.

• Thank you, our front line of defense. Thank you, our heroes working silently. Thank you, our heroes at the first lines facing the pandemic that affected the whole world and keeping our society safe, protected, and healthy.
