CID at Central Region Police Dept, in a record time, arrested an Arab man in connection with stealing cars abandoned on sand areas and residential areas for longer periods.
Deputy Director of Central Region Police Dept Colonel Hamad Abdullah Al Riyami said that a complaint was communicated to Operation Room by an Arab man reporting his car, left unattended with engine running, had been stolen.
No sooner had the incident been reported than an investigative team from CID was formed to start the hunt for the perpetrator. Team’s efforts were crowned with success, and the stolen car was monitored. Perpetrator, an Arab man was later busted and confessed to the theft crime.
He informed police that he had sold the car, and that he had carried out spate of auto thefts. Cars stolen by the perpetrator were those left unattended for longer periods on public areas. The man was hence detained and referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution.
Colonel Al Riyami pointed out that Community Police at Sharjah Police G.H.Q, jointly with Traffic and Patrols Dept had launched a field campaign targeting unattended and wanted cars which might attract illegal activities.
Sharjah Police urge upon drivers the paramount importance of parking their cars in safe places, and avoiding leaving their cars unattended with engine running.
Drivers were also urged to avoid prolonged parking of cars on public areas or residential areas so as not to be vulnerable to theft whether in all or in part; to distort the city’s image, or be used for illegal activities.
