During the UAE government media briefing.. Update on some technical features of Al Hosn app

Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, Acting Cheif Executive Officer of Ambulatory Healthcare Services – SEHA:

• No serious symptoms have been detected on those who have received the vaccine so far. Only minor side effects that disappear soon were felt.

• These symptoms are common with any previously approved vaccine against other diseases, such as the polio vaccine. As 29.7% of the total children who received the vaccine suffered from pain at the injection site, 8% of them had a headache, and 3.7% had a fever.

• A supplementary study of the immune response to the Sinopharm vaccine for children conducted by the UAE proved the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine on children. Where the preliminary data showed that 96.6% of the child participants in the study had developed antibodies against the virus.

• According to last July statistics related to the vaccine effectiveness, it was found that the infection among the vaccinated people was mild and did not require hospitalization, where 99% of them were isolated at home or hotels.

• We would like to announce the update of some technical features of the Al Hosn app.

• The new update provides travel information, the status of arrivals or departures from red-flagged countries with an indication of the day of arrival, in addition to the vaccine information.

• A page of the official vaccination certificates and COVID-19 test certificates stamped by the Ministry of Health and Prevention has been added.

• The QR code in the application can be read directly from the phone’s camera or the built-in scanner in the application.

• If the Al-Hosn application is not available in the scanner phone, the user will be transferred to the Al-Hosn web page, and the last 4 digits of the Emirates ID number, the unified number, or the passport number will be requested.

• The application is characterized by three colors; if the color of the application for the user is green, it means that the negative test is effective, while the grey color indicates that the test is ineffective. If the application is in red, it means that the user is positive for the virus.


Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship:

• We announce the protocol for the approval of the vaccination certificate issued from outside the country, which aims to verify the vaccination certificates in accordance with the controls and procedures regulating them, and to approve them electronically and automatically, to facilitate the movement of arrivals from abroad, and to ensure the speedy completion of the procedure.

• To ensure the safe entry of travelers during this period, we advise those coming to the country to register their data using the ICA UAE Smart application or by visiting smartservices.ica.gov.ae.

• The vaccination certificates registration is optional for travelers wishing to enjoy the benefits that individuals who had received the vaccine obtain in the UAE.

• Only approved vaccines will be accepted in the UAE, and they will appear in the Al-Hosn application.

• Travelers can start registering from August 15, as the application has the capability to incorporate various data related to the traveller, including the vaccination certificates.
