Ahmed bin Mohammed leads UAE delegation at 34th meeting of Heads of Olympic Committees of GCC countries

 H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC), led the UAE delegation attending the 34th meeting of the Heads of the Olympic Committees of member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), which was held today in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

The UAE delegation included Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, First Deputy President of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC) and Chairman of the Executive Office; Members of the Executive Office, Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi and Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi; Azza bint Sulaiman, Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the UAE National Olympic Committee; and Mohammed Al Qahtani, Head of the Commercial Affairs Department at the UAE Embassy, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal Al Saud, Saudi Minister of Sports, Chairman of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), opened the meeting in the presence of Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

The meeting discussed a number of topics and approved changing the name of the Gulf Sports Dispute Resolution Authority to GCC Sports Arbitration Authority, which has its headquarters in Bahrain.

Officials participating in the meeting thanked the UAE National Olympic Committee headed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed for undertaking to host the inaugural GCC Youth Games in 2023.

The meeting also approved a number of GCC sports tournaments scheduled to take place in various GCC countries.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of promoting women’s participation in all sports tournaments and increasing the number of women’s sports competitions in the GCC region.
