Tropical Cyclone Cat 2 centres in southwest of Arabian Sea: NCM

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has said tropical Cyclone Cat 2 is centred in the southwest of the Arabian Sea at latitude 14.6 north and longitude 53.2 east.

The NCM issued the following weather update on tropical storm TEJ in the Arabian Sea from October 20 to 25, 2023.

Current Situation:

The tropical Cyclone Cat 2 is centred in the southwest of the Arabian Sea at latitude 14.6 north and longitude 53.2 east.

The wind speed around the centre ranges from 155 to 165 km/hr About 90 km south – Southeast of the Yemeni coast. with an existing formation of rainy convective clouds around the depression.

Expectation:

Through numerical models and reports issued by the regional hurricane monitoring centre, the A tropical Cyclone Cat 2 is expected the tropical cyclone gradually weaken into a tropical storm and then to a tropical depression in the next 24 hours, and its path will be movement towards the north-west towards the Yemeni coast, where the wind speed ranges between 135 and 55 km/hr around the centre.

Impact on the country

There is an indirect effect on the country by the flow of moisture from the Arabian Sea on the eastern and southern regions, which creates the chance for the formation of some cumulus clouds accompanied by rain.
