MOI sets guidelines for National Day celebrations

The Ministry of the Interior issued a set of guidelines for the public to follow during National Day celebrations, emphasizing the importance of ensuring safety and maintaining a civilized atmosphere of joy and happiness.

Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council, reiterated the Ministry’s call to adhere to laws and safety requirements, urging the public to enjoy the festive atmosphere while avoiding any harm or disturbance to others.

The outlined requirements include avoiding marches and random gatherings, adhering to traffic rules and police instructions, refraining from using party sprays, and not altering the vehicle’s appearance. This encompasses avoiding changes to the license plate, vehicle color, windshield tint, and prohibiting stickers, signs, or logos on the vehicle, except for National Day stickers under specified rules.

Additionally, the guidelines stress not overloading vehicles, keeping windows and sunroofs closed, refraining from making additions to the vehicle exhaust system or unauthorized engine alteration, and avoiding actions that disrupt traffic. Stunt driving on roads, covering windows with stickers, and using front sunshades are also prohibited. Al-Harithi underlined the significance of displaying only the flag of the UAE, and warned against raising of flags of other countries, as well as scarves not related to the National Day, and limiting the volume of chants and songs to those related to the occasion.

Decorative shops are warned against displaying anything other than the UAE flag or Eid Union-related posters. Non-compliance with these instructions will result in fines and vehicle impoundment, with commercial stores facing penalties for disregarding guidelines. Al-Harithi concluded by wishing everyone a safe celebration.
